Structural Evaluation of Foundations, Floor Slabs, Swimming Pools, and Retaining Walls But not the Framing or the Roof!!!
Structures can either settle or heave due to the subsurface and drainage conditions at a site. Depending on the amount of movement, the foundations and floor slabs of the structure may crack. Upon arriving at the property, we will prepare a floor plan of the interior of the structure. The levelness of the structure is then measured using precise digital equipment and a floor level survey is prepared.
The data gathered would indicate whether or not the structure has heaved up due to expansive soils, is essentially level, or has settled. The Uniform Building Code (UBC) allows a maximum deflection of 1 inch in 30 feet in order to limit the amount of cracking in the structural elements. Depending on the results of the floor level survey, we can determine whether or not any cracks in the floor slabs and foundations are cosmetic in nature or are due to major structural problems.

The levelness of a pool is determined by examination of the water line in the pool and the presence of any cracks within the pool shell or around the pool decking. Retaining walls are checked using a plumb bob to determine whether or not they are leaning beyond generally accepted limits. Any cracks in the walls are also evaluated.

Depending on our observations, a host of solutions are offered for repair of any observed distress. Upon completion of the inspection, we will make a verbal presentation to you describing the condition of the items inspected and provide you with conceptual repair recommendations. Typically, within 2 to 3 days, a written report of our findings, floor level survey, and recommendations along with a copy of the floor level survey and selected photographs taken during the inspection are faxed, emailed, and mailed to you.
